From boating to mountain biking, the Lake Eildon district offers a range of activities to help keep both you and your family entertained during your stay.

Mini Golf

We are very proud of our bright and colourful mini golf! Keep an eye out for more updates and pictures as we have a range of new child friendly activities coming along quickly within the park!

It doesn’t matter if you are into speed boats, wakeboarding, fishing boats, jet-skis, kayaks or just relaxing on a house boat – Lake Eildon is Victoria’s favourite inland waterway for boating and is considered Australia’s houseboat capital.

Lucky for you that Eildon Pondage Holiday Park lies at the mouth of this waterway and has plenty of room for short and long term boat storage, we can also help with boat hire if required.

Or if the downriver rapids is more your thing, the beautiful Howqua, Delatite and Goulburn rivers are on our doorstep. These are all popular with canoeists and kayakers in summer, or if you like you can just bring a raft and let go of some of that adrenalin.

Need a boat? We have you covered:

Whether you are a fly fisherman, or prefer bait or lure fishing off a boat or the shoreline – Lake Eildon and district is one of Australia’s most popular fishing destinations. It’s proximity to Melbourne yet ample hidden spots also makes it a preferred location for Angling club competitions.

Brown trout, rainbow trout, redfin, perch, Murray cod, roach, and tench are some of the best species that can be caught around Lake Eildon including the pondage waterway, right off Eildon Pondage Holiday Park.

Fishing in the pristine Lake Eildon pondage waterway is very popular with families and competitive anglers alike. Whilst the local rivers and streams are closed to fishing in winter – the pondage is open all year round. And with thousands of fish being released each year into the pondage from the local hatchery – fishing off Eildon Pondage Holiday Park is a must for experienced anglers and youngsters alike.

Don’t have a rod, licence or bait? No problems – the Eildon Pondage Holiday Park kiosk has the basics to get you started!

And don’t forget to ask management about Lake Eildon boat hire, or for fishing guides and some of the best spots in the high country for Fly fishing, Alpine angling or casting for trout…

And whilst in town a visit to the following centres is a great experience for the whole family:

Mountain biking

Home to the Dirty Dozen cycling trails, Victoria’s High Country is a wonderland of downhill runs, cross country tracks, jumps courses, off-camber sections and much more.

Take up the 7 Peaks Challenge across the mountains of the High Country, race downhill on an alpine mountain bike trail, or slow it all down with a delightful and delicious ride between local wineries, craft breweries and farm gates.

Sign up for the annual Audax Alpine Classic or take the 7 Peaks Challenge and climb some of Victoria’s classic alpine peaks. To raise the stakes a little, download the 7 Peaks iPhone App and compete against other riders.

Ask the management at Eildon Pondage Holiday Park for some local mountain tour operators, or for a map of some of the local riding trails.

Horse riding

The high country lies at the heart of the biggest recreational horse riding area of Australia, and has plenty to offer both the novice and experienced rider.

Ask the Eildon Pondage Holiday Park staff about some of our local tour operators – then go off riding with some of the legendary mountain horseman of these parts during a summer muster or visit the rustic cattleman’s huts – all whilst enjoying the beautiful alpine scenery and fresh mountain air.
